![]() In 2018, the ShineOnCass Foundation organized a Cereal Drive to support food insecure kids in the summer through the Oakland Food Pantry. More than 250 boxes of cereal were collected and shared with families in need. In 2019, the ShineOnCass Foundation partnered with the Town of Oakland’s annual summer festival “Oakfest” to promote a special day to share kindness in honor of Cass called “ShineOn Oakland Day.” Oakfest features a weekend of community events, with the largest being “ShineOn Oakland Day” welcoming dozens of locally-grown food vendors, Maine artists and crafters, musicians and children's activities. We shared our popular Kindness Bookmark Project with kids at ShineOn Oakland Day and collected "ShineOnCass Snacks" for local school food pantries. We think the community effort is a great opportunity for families to support other families in need, and a special way for kids to shine their own light by giving back. Oakfest is Back in 2022! Saturday, July 23, 10 am to 4 pm at ShineOn Oakland Day on the grounds at Williams Elementary School! We are again accepting snack donations for the Oakland School Food Pantries. Bring them to Oakfest and help STUFF THE BUS! Then stay to paint a kindness rock with your kids!
